Have you ever found yourself stargazing during the night?
Sitting in your room looking at the ceiling wondering of the world around you. Or even flipping through hundreds and hundreds of tik tok songs, to tranquility the mundane life you feel stuck in. Or maybe you were feeling coaxed by music that submerged from YouTube or Spotify playlist that makes you feel as though you are verging on a new discovery all to itself. In the lives we live in, many of us stay up late at night drowning in thoughts that tempt us to get in a car and drive away to be free. The way I see it, we come to an aesthetic sound that pleases our mind.
Scientists and many doctors will come to tell you of all the different methods and reasons why you stay up at night and many if not all are true. But still, it doesn’t reflect on the mindset that you personally want to adventure into a nuisance somewhere new in life. That is where music and imagery steps into place. If you haven’t already ventured on tik tok and many Instagram videos you can come across sounds that make you want to dream again and adventure. Some videos push you to motivate with hashtags like; #motivate monday, #selfcare, #doyou, etc. These submerging themes create an optimistic illusion at times of where to go hindsight of life but also of how to be, especially when you are running through millions of videos.
Social media gives an influence of how to live free again but also insights of other ideas that you didn’t think of. But being in the night life there’s still this sense of a teenage rebellion that comes out in certain individuals. Each person is different and when we look at the night, there's an exploration for freedom when it comes to driving. We sense that exploration when the night is full and for some, driving endless miles is a life sensation that brings aesthetic feeling to be an individual and not a crowd. Finding those obstacles that set us apart is what grants a night life different. From souring through old vinyls on a record player, to painting the next Mona Lisa, we create our own beauty in our own eyes. The nighttime isn’t just an aesthetic sound but more a childhood memory left to explore within ourselves.
So how does one capitalize on these trends and videos of exploration and identify?
First, I say take a moment to reflect on what you enjoy most in life. Search from within and find that calming place for what you truly want in life. The nighttime is a canvas that you should carve and explore for yourself. Especially on nights when you don’t feel as though you can’t sleep or nights where you know you are free the next day.
Second, the next part should carry upon that reflection. Continue to feed on that thought and plan. Planning should be how you make it, whether that be writing a detailed plan on what to write about, how to draw something or where to drive to. Either way, take that minute to craft a plan for your night. That could even be at work or during the night.
Third, act on that plan, it’s easy to plan things out and adjust to what you want to do or when you want to do something, but truly acting on it is important. Most importantly sticking to it. Art is a bridge that you can make to fit you and the night is your background for all things.
Finally, enjoy it, let the influences continue with you and do your best to be free with the night and the art. No matter the case, finding that childhood freedom should be extravagant in your quest for whatever you do with your night. And it doesn’t have to be thrilling and adventurous; it could be lighting your room with neon lights or lighting candles to muse your thoughts. Either way, find that passion that sticks with you.
